MELBOURNE + BIRTHDAY RE-CAP

You'll have to excuse me as I mop up all my excuses over the past 4-5 years I've been blogging and throw them at you. I have been slacking off for way too long!
But given my current circumstances, I felt that maybe I could be excused from my usual blogging duties.
The past month has been ridiculously busy to say the least. Blogging became something like a menial task for me and my life was overtaken by other things.

JULY 9-12TH
...involved copious amounts of alcohol consumption as well as laughter, love and gossip. Melbourne, as a city, was an absolute joy to be in. Luckily I got to spend it with two amazing girls & a wonderful best friend who I had missed way too much. I have never been able to cram so much into four days but it was do-able. We explored Highpoint with Andrew & Joey, we drank ourselves silly at the hotel, we cut lines at nightclubs, met amazing Melbournians, we dined at Crown Casino and even managed to win a handy $15. And that was just DAY ONE!
We tore Chapel Street apart in 6 hours, dined in and didn't burn the apartment down, we were drunk before we left the apartment and then we did things that can only remain in Melbourne!
Day three involved three very hungover SydneySiders failing to navigate their way around Melbourne. Throw in some alcohol at night with three, albeit weak, Melbournian boys and you've got yourself a night to remember (or forget).
After all of that it was expected that the 8.30AM flight back to Sydney would be difficult to make. And such difficulties saw truth when we managed to miss our flight resulting in three girls setting up camp in the airport terminal for 7 hours.
In summation, Melbourne was fun sprinkled with AMAZING! With plans to head back there in December, Melbourne better be prepared for ROUND TWO!!

JULY 15-19TH
As if I didn't have enough of Melbourne the weekend prior, eight of the most friendliest faces from Melbourne arrived in Sydney. One out of the eight being my best friend. And then we did it all over again...partied till the sun rose (literally on some occasions).
Day one saw me on vomit bag duty after the boys smashed 2 cases of beer in 2 hours. Seeing your best friend spew is not something someone wants to witness. Holding the bag for him to spew is on a whole new level of disgusting! To add to the rising number of failures the boys had racked up, they managed to pass out by 5PM.
We went with the FLOW the next day and ended up at World Square Pub and as it ticked over to my 20th birthday, I was nursing a very sick Andrew back to good health so he could make it to my birthday. Poor effort on his part to fall sick on the eve of my birthday.
The rest of the Melbourne boys' stay remains a bit of a blur as I have little to no recollection of my own birthday or any events happening the day after. I'm getting too old for this.
But I do recall a lot of tears as emotions ran high when we parted. Saying bye to your best friend and not knowing when you'll see him next seriously sucks. I had every intention of chaining these boys to poles as a means to keep them in Sydney. I even went as far as hugging Andrew until he almost missed his train. I love my best friend <3.

After two weekends of crazy fun fun fun, I had work for a solid 7 days straight. All while nursing a killer fever which were a result of the aforementioned weekends. How I survived work is beyond me, but I had to make up for my extravagent spending habits.

Then after all of that University started to rear it's ugly head again. So I was yanked away from my blog once again and thrown into a world of stress, readings, lectures, tutorials and more stress. It sucks that I can't add hot boys to that list but UWS is kind of lacking of such specimen.

FRANKIE; Issue 36 - July/August

I am aware that I am late with these reviews, but truth be told I have been so busy lately, I'm surprised I've found time to breathe. Last night was my first night at home in almost 2 weeks so I wanted to enjoy it, under my blanket watching Gilmore Girls.
But in amongst my frenzy that is, work, internship applications & holiday planning, I found time to read Frankie 36.

The July/August edition of Frankie is really no different from the rest. It's balance of art, fashion and music make reading it a pleasure. Throw in a simplistic, easy to read layout, vintage-esque photography & a splash of sarcasm, and you've got yourself Frankie.
This issue featured a mini interview with the Midnight Juggernauts, an adorable park bench couple ring by Chasing Rabbit, subtley funny reviews on soup & milk based soaps and serious articles about new Australian citizens & depression.
You've got the usual 'i love my shop' interview and recipe you have 2 months to perfect before the nexy recipe is thrown at you. The fashion was wonderful as it is in every issue.
A pleasurable read nonetheless.
Jo Walker, you've done it again!

a good read.

I just nabbed myself these magazines. I will post a review once I finish reading

raaaage

I blog with this with the confidence that my illiterate manager won't come across it. Just to be clear, I work at a restaurant and at a dance studio, it is the former that has got me as worked up as I am right now.

Never in my 8 months of employment there have I been more f#&king pissed off at the place in all its entirety.
I was generous enough to LOAN the place my Michael Buble album which was a cherished Christmas present, only to find, much to my disgust, it lying on the table with your phone and keys sprawled all over it. Do you have no respect for other peoples possessions? Unless you have the intention of covering the cost of the CD, don't expect me to be all nice and forgiving about it.

You and your crazy ass expectations of me learning a menu in ANOTHER FUCKING LANGUAGE is undeniably, the most outrageous. Instead of making me learn what ever language it is you expect me to, maybe you should brush up on your English skills seeing as we live in Australia and all. 'Cause we all know it's "what WOULD you like?" and not "what COULD you like?" Just saying.

Maybe if you got off your ass once in a while and actually helped out around the place, customers won't be so dissatisfied when they have to wait lengthy periods for some service. I'm not the spawn of superwoman here alright? I don't have a clone of myself who can help me answer a phone call every now and then or serve a customer while I clean up the mess you've made.

And please, for the love of all things good, don't "forbid" me from yawning. It's a normal human bodily function.

So fuck off or I'ma bring health services on yo ass, bitch!

make my day

...and text me! =)

To you:

I had my eye on you from day one of this semester.
On the last day of the semester, we finally spoke & I came to learn that you sing and play guitar.
Then you proceeded to sing Michael Buble`.
Game f*ckin' over!

Exams = OVER!

FREEEEDOM!
It feels good & it was missed so very dearly. Uni exams had me sleeping 2-3 hours a night which left me with eyebags down to my knees! Attractive, no?
Impeccable timing on UWS' behalf left me watching the soccer, NBA and studying all at the same time. Cheers UWS! ;)

Crazy months ahead!

My constant falling off the bloggosphere is unacceptable, I know. Life's beben super crazy once again, with no prospect of it slowing down. With exams looming I'm spending more time with my face nestled in a book in a library.
But apart from exams coming up, I have about a million things going on come holiday time!
Upon finishing exams, I have:
  • A three joint 21st birthday
  • A highly anticipated AFL game.
  • A weekend away to Melbourne with my ladies, Felicia & Anna. This also gives me a chance to catch up with my brother from another mother, Andrew, who I haven't seen in about..4-5 years!
  • Days after coming back to Sydney, Andrew's coming up from Melbourne for my birthday. Love him too much!
  • My 20th birthday!
  • Temper Trap gig
  • Winterbeatz (Ne-Yo & T-Pain)
  • Shaun & John's 22nd birthday
  • Anna's 21st birthday party
  • Another AFL game

Somewhere in amongst all that I have to fit in tutorial registrations & semester 2 beginning. Whether or not I survive & last the distance is another question.

But the purpose of all that was to let you guys know, in advance, that I may not have the time to blog as often! But for the avid readers, I've joined twitter! So just follow me to see where I'm at etc.

I'M BACK!

After a lengthy delay with my blog posts, I AM BACK.
The past couple of weeks have been absolute bonkers, with assignments, tests, quizzes & birthday parties to attend to. So that sort of explains my break.
But I'm not going to drown you all with mindless complaining about how pathetic University is. Instead...I'll do a quick over view.
30th April: The night Felicia, Anna and I discovered THE nicest beer ever. I suggest you give Belgian Beer Cafe, in The Rocks a shot. In particuar order the Floris Apple beer. It tasted like sparklin apple juice. Simply delish!
1st May: CREAMFIELDS. It was a messy, messy afternoon with my ladies & a few familiar faces.
14th May: Dinner with the ladies. Never a dull moment with these females. "Family bog after the family box" LOLOL
16th May: My darling Zico's birthday. Good night spent with even better people. It was a night of constant shoe stepping on, intentional attempts to trip each other over, non-stop teasing & laughing. And who could forget the magic candles we fooled Zico with?

mail man brings MORE good news

Horrible quality once again.
<--I received a notice in the mail to go pick up a package at the post office. Little did I know it would contain such a surprise!
WE LOVE SOUNDS 2010!

Once I arrived home I saw a large envelope peaking through the letter box. I was greeted with this lovely little treat from my friends at Frankie! The model on this months issue is absolutely gorgeous! --->

Sydney Swans vs. West Coast Eagles starts in a short hour or so, hence the scarf. But my excitement is more directed towards the ANZAC day match between Magpies and Bombers tomorrow afternoon. I hope with all my might that it can some how top last years match intensity.

hypocritical

I think your behaviour as of late warrants a hoard of obscene language. But moreover, it brings to light many unsettled feelings of hypocrisy on your behalf.

CPR

My AFL Dream Team this year needs a MAJOR revival. Averaging scores of 1600 is not on, especially since head to head rounds have just begun. Doesn't take a genius to work out I got absolutely annihilated in both my leagues this week! Damn my poor captain choosing skills!
P.S. to the incompetent wanker working at the studio, here's a bright idea .. FILE THE PAPER WORK PROPERLY SO I DON'T HAVE TO CLEAN UP YOUR MESS! >=/

splendid

Splendour in the Grass, THE winter indie music festival to be seen at. Usually held in Byron Bay NSW, but due to overwhelming demand, it is going to be held up in QLD for 2010. I must admit, this line up is probably the most solid since the festival first began in 2001. Artists such as The Strokes, Mumford and Sons, Florence + the Machine, The Temper Trap, Pixies, Goldfrapp, The Vines, British India, Passion Pit, Lisa Mitchell, Tame Impala (and the list goes on), will be making an appearance in the notorious three day festival which provide camping grounds for a majority of the patrons.
My love for Splendour just grew 10 fold, but it's a shame I can't go. My heart broke when I realised it was over the weekend of one of my close girlfriends 21st, two of my boys' 22nd birthdays and an AFL game which we all have tickets for already.
Maybe next year. Fingers crossed the line up is as solid. (Please bring back Bloc Party!)

On the topic of all things festivals, I need to make a HUGE shoutout to Anna and AJ from UA for giving Felicia and I their free tickets to Creamfields. Both of them received two free tickets each and Felly and I were the lucky ones to make use of these free tickets! My excitement levels are about to burst through the ceiling with festival after gig after festival after gig lined up over the next 3-4 months.

Now moving onto something completely irrelevant to music, the Sydney Swans won their 3rd game in a row yesterday afternoon! An amazing performance by Dan 'the man' Hannebery in the second half (total of 28 possessions), major props to Goodesy as per usual. And of course, Jesse White for that mark on Lachie Hanson which was pivotal to the entire game.

Speaking of AFL, I best get back to finishing my readings before the Melbourne/Richmond game is televised!

broken bones

In amongst all the frenzy of University and work, Nathan managed to practically break his entire arm.
I remember my first broken bone. It was in Year 2 when the fattest kid in the class sat on it. The pain was excrutiating. So when I heard that poor Nath tore ligaments and fractured such and such, it hurt me too.
I hope you heal up supersuper fast Nath! Eight more weeks until you can swing your arms around like a crazy animal again!

photoexplosion

A crazy weekend spent with the girls again! Pub Crawl was well spent this time, the three pittstop rule was enforced and was very successful! Started off cheap at Pavillion where we gathered as a small group, then headed to the VERY classy Hilton Hotel for Marble Bar and finished off down the road at Brooklyn Hotel.
After all the frenzy of getting tickled, winning scissors paper rock TWICE in a row ;), falling out of bar stools and screaming obscenities out the car window, we crashed at Felicia's house at a solid 5AM
After all the nutty drinking, parasailing was on the agenda with the bestie at Manly. By far the best adrenaline experience I've ever had! Weather was perfect as were wind conditions. But we all froze after getting out of the water!
With the ladies at Pavillion
A very drunk Felicia raping yours truly at Marble Bar.

Reunited with the Stereosonic buddy, Andy!

Wreaking havoc in Felicia's kitchen again!

All strapped up and ready for some high flying!

Getting buckled in!

And offff weeee goooo..

Getting dunked.

On the way back down to the safe boat.

mail man brings good news

Poor image quality with my trusty inbuilt webcam on my laptop, but I think it captures the excitement I felt when I ripped open the mail today.
HELLOOOO The Temper Trap gig tickets!
July 27th, come faster PLEASE!

Sometimes it's easier to say you don't care, than to explain all the reasons why you do.

you try to make me go to rehab..

I am very well aware that my blogging is probably on par with an unchanged diaper but the I guess the thought that I am blogging now is all that counts. Right?

Needless to say it has been a frantic year thus far.
I've started my new degree and have since decided my major, sub major and effectively, my potential career.
I've been in and out of rehabilitation and therapy for my severely damaged ankle resulting in a far too long a holiday from the dance scene.
And apparently, I am becoming wiser. Oh, yes. The dreaded wisdom teeth are coming through leaving me unable to eat for 3 days.
Somewhere in all of that I've found the time to celebrate a few birthdays, get drunk on a few occasions, go to the Sydney Swans' season opener for 2010 and save for the greatest winter festival, We Love Sounds. To add to my long list of upcoming events I must had THE TEMPER TRAP's gig on the 27th July. My excitement levels are reaching full capacity despite it being well over 100 days away.

But all in all, I think the best thing to come out of this year is the realisation that my friends are the strongest people alive, given all the adversity my groups faced since the turn of the decade.

Thursday, March 11, 2010

selfish, no?

I suppose the drama's over. It really gets on my nerves how they never really saw how it affected the whole dynamic of the dance production. We worked everything around them in order to have the piece finalised by today. There are going to be a lot of angry overtime-ers tonight. Me being one of them. Don't test my patience.

ladyboys

I type this entry up as five of my boys depart the great land of Sydney and head for ... Brisbane to catch their flight to... THAILAND!
In all the drama over the past couple of weeks, it's good to know they're all getting a break to sort their heads out. Although, I'm almost positive I will miss them, as much as I hate to admit it.
Have fun in Thailand boys!
TAKE CARE ZICO, KENNY, NATHAN, SHAUN AND JOHN!

MURDER INC!

Luckily Inc didn't get murdered last night at basketball. Although, a small portion of me believed that they would when one opposing team member hurled a drink bottle across the court.
Hope you're recovering well from surgery, Carlo. 6 more months until I can see you whoop some basketball ass!

The ultimate betrayal

By the best of friends.
It's sad to see it come to this.
We've all, as a group, been friends for too long to have this happen.

Big Day Out was ... pretty damn Big. Now I'm not one to gloat, but SUCKED IN TO THOSE WHO DIDN'T SNAG ONE OF THE 55 000 TICKETS FOR FRIDAYS BIG DAY OUT! Because it was nothing short of AMAZING.

The star studded line up was topped when Muse were announced to be headlining. One of my favourite bands of all time, not to mention the likes of Powderfinger, Lily Allen, The Temper Trap, Dizzee Rascal and Girl Talk. But then the forecasts were predicted to be an insanely hot, 40 degrees in the west, and as usual, Big Day Out is in the western suburbs. So Anna, Jono, Kenny, Shaun, Scott and I sweltered in the unbearable heat. On a couple of occassions Anna and I had to call it quits due to the intensity of the sun. But overall, THE DAY WAS FREAKIN HUGE!

ride my bike

I was venturing around the shops yesterday with a friend and I stumbled upon the Siren boots featured in the above set. I. Fell. In. Love. The small details which cover the boots give it a modern effect with a "bad girl" connotation . I teamed them up with a cat claw singlet as well as basic studded shorts. In order to complete the "bad girl" look, I accessorised with black basic jewellery and a leather jacket.

I love Doc Martens, so when I saw these on Polyvore I felt my heart melt a little inside. I thought I'd continue this "biker" look by teaming them up with some frayed shorts and a basic wool side top. To finish this casual look I didn't want to overload it with accessories so I stuck to basic biker-esque bracelets and a black necklace to add dimension to the top half of the outfit.

Here's lookin at you #2

To the random waiter who works at the Italian restaurant next to where I work. You smiled at me through the window while you were serving someone today. And can I just say, I melted when you did!
YOU ARE TOO CUTE! =)

C.R

It's almost liberating to know I survived the past three years.

I didn't think I'd even make it through my first year of school. But you held my hand through Orientation, helped me make my Easter hat for the annual MPPS Parade, walked me to After School Care every single afternoon, helping me back up when I had fallen down on the concrete and you were my big sister. Overcoming the tradegy three years ago was beyond me. I was adamant in believing that there was absolutely nothing in the world that would make me forget and stop hurting.

The truth is, I am still hurting and I haven't forgotten. But I survived and althought you're not here, I have to thank you for helping me survive the past three years. Without you, and your 13 years of wise words, I wouldn't have made it. I would have quit a long time ago.

You always made a difference. You always will make a difference.
And I will always miss you.

I used to ask myself why did it have to be you. But it is selfish of me to wish it upon anyone else. I wouldn't want their friends and family to be suffering the pain that I and many others have. I think when you left, you left a little selflessness behind, that we all picked up and adopted.

I miss you so much. And I love you so much more. Please stay safe in your happy place. I hope you like the flowers the girls and I scattered around for you.

zebra

My temporary nickname (in amongst a hoard of other, much more unfortunate ones) is currently Zebra.
Let me tell you why!
I ventured to the beach yesterday as the temperature soared to the high 30's. CP, Mick and I set up camp at this tiny secluded beach just off Cronulla (I'm guesstimating it is about a 2-5 minute drive). Despite being filled with littlies, it was really serene. The water was a perfect temperature and the shallow parts stretched out to really far distances. If you walk out far enough, you will reach a ridge in the water where the knee level water suddenly becomes deep enough to drown a grown adult!
But anyway, we tanned for about half an hour before we had to make a long trek home. We are not air-con people so we were rolling with the windows down. Little did we know, this was tanning us, on one side only! CP and I were unfortunate enough to have only tanned on our left thigh & arm. So now I'm black + white. Hence, Zebra.
On a completely irrelevant note....
I am confused.

It's so sad...

We are mates.
We were friends.
But then your new girlfriend came along and you seemed to have forgotten about me. At first I started making excuses for you; blaming your new girlfriend and the "honeymoon period" on our sudden drop in communication. Then I started pointing the finger on my new job dragging me away from my friends & eating up my social life.

But then I realised, you didn't HAVE to delete my Facebook posts on your wall which contained nothing but my well wishes for your New Year. You didn't HAVE to suddenly become defensive when I brought up how I felt since she came along. Like you said there is no reason why I should be upset, therefore, there should be no reason why you should get defensive. You didn't HAVE to forget about me.
You chose to.

I am only the way that I am today because of you. I have come to a point in my life where I am no longer sorry for being a bitch to you and to her.

Accountability: the state of being accountable, liable, or answerable.
Add that to your vocab.

Guns don't kill people ... Lazer's do.

If you don't already have Major Lazer's album I suggest you get off your ass and go get yourself a copy RIGHT NOW!

While my holidays have been nothing but busy, busy and ... did I mention busy? I finally found some time to sit at home and complete things which have been crying my name for weeks. I feel some what relaxed and back at home with my laundry complete, car washed AND vacuumed.

All the boring, housewife stuff aside, HOW WAS EVERYONES NYE's?
I for one, can say that NYE was well spent. Despite having to work until 9.30PM, Christina & I managed to get back out onto the road and at John's house by 10.30PM. (Please note that I work out in the Hills District & John lives near Bankstown Airport; factor in time to get ready and eat, I think we did fairly well).
Big Day Out is in TWO weeks! Excited? Yes, but I am trying very very hard to contain it as I was overly excited for Stereosonic and was instead, left sitting on the fence about the festival overall. That being said, I am spending BDO with a completely different group of friends and I'm sure they know how to party!
New Years Resolution progress:
I haven't cut down on my MSN + Facebook consumption, partially because I am still on holidays, so this resolution will have to be delayed another month + three weeks as University doesn't start until March 1st!
My healthy eating, dance diet has kicked into full force. Now I don't want people to think "WHAT?! This girl doesn't need to lose weight" and I agree, I don't. I'm quite content with my current weight, being 57-58kg. But I am an avid dancer, and with dancing comes a strict diet which doesn't involve starving (this misconception can get on my nerves). The main point of the diet is to keep me fit enough to dance on a three times a week basis.
